Rescue Training Impact Report: 115 Heroes Equipped in 2023

As the crisp autumn air settles in and the leaves begin to turn, we at Empact are reflecting on another successful rescue training season. Thanks to the unwavering support of our generous donors, we've been able to equip more first responders with life-saving skills, both here at home and abroad.

Here's the highlights from another successful year.

Rescue Systems 1: The Foundation of Advanced Rescue

This year, we conducted two Rescue Systems 1 courses, graduating 43 firefighters from across Washington state. This crucial training prepares engine company firefighters to perform advanced rescue operations as part of a team, using tools readily available to them. From structural collapse scenarios to rope rescue techniques and heavy lifting, these brave men and women are now better prepared to save lives in complex emergency situations.

Rope Rescue Technician: Mastering the Heights

We're proud to report that 48 students completed our Rope Rescue Technician course, honing their skills in high-angle rescues. This advanced training covered everything from complex rigging systems and multi-point anchors to unsupported rope ascents and high-angle litter rigging. These firefighters are now equipped to handle some of the most challenging rescue scenarios imaginable.

International Impact: Empowering Belizean Responders

Our commitment to global preparedness took us to Belize, where we conducted a rescue refresher course for 24 local responders. This intensive training focused on structural collapse and rope rescue techniques, ensuring that these dedicated professionals can better serve their communities in times of crisis.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up this training season, we're excited about what's on the horizon. Keep an eye out for some thrilling news about our international rescue training initiatives coming your way soon!
