About this course
Confined Space Rescue Technician is an intensive 40-hour course designed for firefighters and other emergency responders who may be called upon to perform rescues in permit-required confined spaces.Â
This challenging course emphasizes hands-on, scenario-based training in simulated industrial and municipal confined space environments. Key topics include hazard recognition and control; atmospheric monitoring; ventilation techniques; supplied air respirators; communications systems; victim packaging and removal; and non-entry and entry rescue techniques. Students will practice a variety of rescues using specialized equipment like tripods, winches, full-body harnesses, and supplied-air-breathing apparatus.
Upon completion, participants will have the knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the job performance requirements for confined space rescue technicians as outlined in NFPA 1006 (2021 ed.). This course is taught by experienced career firefighters and confined space rescue specialists who are active members of technical rescue teams and urban search & rescue task forces.
