Rescue Systems 1

Rescue Systems 1 is an intermediate 40 hour technical rescue and urban search and rescue course designed for firefighters, EMS providers, and law enforcement officers.  This course is designed to provide the participant with a skill set allowing them to complete basic and intermediate rescue skills, operating as a member of a crew and using readily available tools and materials.

Key topics include use of ropes, knots, rigging, and pulley systems; descending, rappelling, belaying tools and techniques; subsurface rescue techniques; use of cribbing and wedges; emergency shoring; use of manual, electric, and gas-powered cutting tools; use of fire service ladders in specialized rescue situations; heavy lift with limited tools; and simulated rescue exercises.

Upon completion, students will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill the JPRs for operations level rope and structural collapse established in NFPA 1006 (2017 ed.).

This course is taught by current Rescue Specialists from Empact’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force who are also current Fire Service based technical rescue providers and instructors.

Location: Bremerton, Washington

Hours: 0830-1830 Daily

Cost: $935 per student. Cancellations must be received 14 days before course commencement to receive a refund.  Substitutions are allowed.

 

Required Equipment: Helmet, eye protection, gloves, boots.

Pre-requisites: This is not an introductory course and assumes the participant has a basic understanding of fire service rescue techniques and tools, as well as an understanding of incident management and safety procedures applicable to the technical rescue environment.

Rescue Systems 1

Rescue Systems 1 is a fast paced, hands on course designed to provide the line firefighter with essential rescue skills.  Topics include low- and high- angle rope systems, shoring, cribbing, breaching, and heavy lift; all using commonly available tools.  Meets the NFPA 1006 JPR's for operations level rope and structural collapse.

Structural Collapse Technician 

Structural Collapse Technician (Rescue Systems 2) is an advanced rescue course designed to prepare the firefighter or rescue technician to operate effectively during complex structural collapse incidents.  Topics include metal and reinforced concrete breaching, search techniques, advanced shoring, and the use of specialized tools. Meets the NFPA 1006 JPR's for technician level structural collapse.

Rope Rescue Technician

Rope Rescue Technician is an advanced ropes course designed to provide the firefighter or rescue technician with advanced rope rescue skills.  Topics include multi-point anchor systems, 2-rope offset horizontal operations, pick-off rescues, and tended litter raises and lowers. Meets the NFPA 1006 JPR's for technician level rope rescue.
